Our
Journey to Emmaus
On
the road to Emmaus I meet you;
- Let
me know it's you, and greet you.
- Along
the
road we'll travel,
- On
cloudy days and fine;
- On
grass, on smooth or gravel,
- Or
on a steep incline.
- Let's
share a chat,
- About
this and that;
- And
yes, I'll carry
your pack,
- As
we travel
the track.
- Then
when we stop to rest
- Share
wine and talk and song;
- With
bread that you have blest.
- I'll
see your face and know you're near
- You,
my guide and friend so dear.
- Lifelong
share the road with me,
- Walking
roughened path along.

- In
my fellow travellers I
will see
- Your
face in
weak and strong.
-
- If
ever I trip and fall I know
- You
stand with outstretched hand.
- And
when the journey's end appears,
- I'll
say with conviction grand,
- To
friends as Heaven nears
- "Did
not our hearts burn within us
- With
love, on the way to Emmaus".
